1. The Branch shall be supervised and controlled by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, and shall be administered by the bodies specified in its act of establishment, in accordance with the provisions governing the operation of Higher Educational Institutions in the Republic of Cyprus.
2. a) The operation of the Branch shall be governed by the principles of academic freedom, respect for scientific and research ethics, maintenance of high standards in education and the services it offers, effectiveness and efficiency in the management of its personnel, resources, and facilities, transparency and accountability throughout its entire range of operations, impartiality in providing its services, merit-based recruitment and career progression procedures, equal treatment regardless of gender, non-discrimination for all, and accessibility for faculty, administrative, and other staff, as well as students with disabilities and special educational needs to all facilities, services—both physical and digital—, equipment, and educational materials.
b) In its organization and operation, the Branch adheres to the best practices of internationally acclaimed Higher Educational Institutions and is governed, in its entirety and all aspects, by the same principles that apply to the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens—most notably, the principle of academic freedom, which serves as a guarantee of independent and inviolable scientific thought, research, and instruction.
